This blog post is only for me to remember that what happened, was the last thing I expected..
Kolkata is usually not very frequent when it comes to organizing Tech related events. mostly because that crowd is very small every time someone tries something. But despite that, I’ve been trying to attend as many events possible and bring then together, so that everytime we can have atleast some new faces. That is actually how the crowd grows.
So when I came to know about this “Fedora 14 Realease Party” on 2nd February via Facebook, I was interested and despite some trouble, went ahead and attended it. And I must say, It’s been a memory to remember for sometime. :)
Being a PHP developer myself, I know how hard a work might get if you don’t know about functions that are appropriate to the situation. So, I thought of building a service that will let people discover new functions everyday, right on their wall(in case of Facebook) or timeline(in case of Twitter).
So I built PHPrefX. A service that keeps posting the name of a function, a short info and the link to the reference of that function once every hour on Twitter and Facebook.
Here are the ones who attended the Meetup and made it such joyous.. :)
We decided to meet up once before the year ends and have a quality time. Some of us are gonna tweet live from the spot. So I thought this would help to track the tweets. :) So, its just a Live stream for following the tweets made from the Event spot. :)
If you use Wordpress for managing your blog or CMS, then you know how it automatically generate the permalink of a post when you just provide the title of the post. It takes the Title, removes special characters or replaces them with a hyphen(-).
Now, I was working on a project which required a news submission to Google news, for which I needed to fix an arbitrary 3 or more digit number to the permalink(Google requirement). So one way of doing that was to manually edit it each time i wrote a post. But that aint possible considering the frequency of posting. So I had to automate the process.
Just a Live stream for following the tweets made from the Event spot. :)
Saw some really Lame posts in Facebook and thought there should be a ‘dislike’ button?
Well, think again.
The other day I was just talking to a friend about the numbering of twitter status IDs. He asked, whats the proof that they started from 1. So, I thought, lets show him.
Here are the first 50 tweets ever posted. The interesting thing is, There is no tweet with the IDs 0-19.. It all started from 20. I also hyperlinked the tweets, check them out. :)
just setting up my twttr
If you develop websites, you’ve definitely came across a site background texture crisis.. I did too, and found myself a pretty sool solution. So am sharing it here. :)
